BURTON CHARITY HANDS OUT NEARLY £95,000 TO GOOD CAUSES
A BURTON charity has handed out £94,912 to organisations who can make an impact in the community
The Consolidated Charity of Burton made 13 grant awards at its latest meeting.
They went to:
4th Burton Scouts - to replace the Scout minibus;
Able to Forum – for the costs of the Able Too Games;
Burton Afghan Society – maintenance and safety of community buildings;
Burton Albion Community Trust – to help with the costs of delivering community programmes;
Burton Churches Together and the YMCA - towards the costs of providing a night shelter for the homeless;
Burton Youth for Christ - to help with operating costs;
Community Learning Centre - operating costs
Holy Trinity Church, Anslow – for the costs of roof repairs;
St Chad’s Church and Community Centre – pointing work on church buildings;
St George’s Knights Power Wheelchair Football Club – repair of sports equipment;
St Mary’s Church - for a disabled toilet and kitchen facilities;
Scropton Riding Centre for the Disabled – arena resurfacing;
Stretton Anglesey Bowls Club - automatic irrigation system for the bowling green;
Broadway Social Enterprise – to provide courses on gardening and healthy cooking.
Consolidated Charity Chairman Ben Robinson said: “We are delighted to have been able to award another substantial amount of money to organisations whose work will have a direct benefit on the people of Burton.
“The trustees were impressed with the quality and scope of work being undertaken by a diverse range of groups and we were keen to support the projects they put before us which will make a massive impact on the community.”
