A BURTON charity has marked the retirement of one of its long-serving trustees.
Mike Hamilton has been a trustee of the Consolidated Charity of Burton for the last ten years helping distribute grant aid to a wide range of groups and organisations in the town. He has also served on the charity’s Policy and Resources Sub-Committee.
Mike said: “The Consolidated Charity is perhaps the oldest charity in Burton and is very important to the town because, in addition to grants to organisations, it offers grants to help people in need and bursaries to students.
“I’m delighted that we have been able to help various organisations that serve the community in and around the Burton area who have benefited from grants from the Consolidated Charity. Together with the financial support we are now giving to organisations which owing to government cut-backs no longer receive local authority support, that is something we should be very proud of.”
Consolidated charity chairman Ben Robinson said: “We want to thank Mike for his dedicated service to the charity. Mike’s passion for supporting the community and his expertise have been invaluable and all the trustees are grateful for his support.”
